Hated most of the missions, the story line, the ghetto setting etc.

I hated having to look after CJ's health, having to work out, having to travel long boring distances that seemed arbitrary. Simply too much shit packed in, and most of it not fun.

Saint's Row 2 feels cheap and shoddy compared to GTAIV when it comes to technical performance, writing, and production values, and it still manages to blow GTAIV away as a game.ДЄs I said in the last sandbox thread, they need to pair up the Saint's Row game design team with the writers and budget of GTA.ДЇor me, the real speed bump in the series was San Andreas. Overengineered, overbearing, overanalyzed, and they were so busy cramming their ideas and careful design into the game that they forgot about freedom and fun. The writing is still pretty decent, but even that takes a step back from past GTA games and also takes itself way too seriously- or, alternately, not seriously enough, since part of the problem was the clash between the traditional GTA wackiness and the way the presentation and the tonal shift of the main story tried to present it as slightly more mature- but that's not the direction I'd lean in to try to fix the clash. The rather large social side game is a tedious grind and the decision to make your progress in that grind decay if you don't keep it up was awful- it means it's not something you can do when you want and ignore when you don't, and just in case you do manage to not give a shit that you're giving up the bonuses you worked to earn, it even nags you about them. The driving is less fun for a whole bunch of reasons- physics, level design, camera placement, etc.

It takes forever to get going and take off the training wheels- and even then I never truly felt as free as I did in past GTA games. IV is an experience they've planned for you, and it just doesn't work. VC, SA, and III are fun games you can play. I think San Andreas was worth playing, but I'd agree with that ordering. This seems tuned down in GTA IV as the review mentions you can adjust traffic density to make it run faster (so, car chases are not so essential?).ДЄfter playing Vice City, just stop. I want to do the missions, but I also want to car jack and mess with the police for no reason. I have read reviews of GTA IV, and they were glowing, but mostly talked about aspects I didn't find so relevant (like the missions). Given that I didn't like San Andreas, but loved Vice City, how would I feel about IV do you think? Now I see that I can purchase all 3 GTA IV games in a package for like 35USD. I hated the homeboy stuff, and never went further, and I also felt to boxed in. And infact (due to a minor depression) spent 1 year (!) cruising around the town whilst drunk. I loved the city, all the jokes, the 80s radio stations. Then I played GTA III Vice City, even better.

There are mods for the PC version that could bring this functionality for you by taking the code from the Vice City version of the game. After a while you should get the hang of it as the game map is quite small and there arenвЂ™t too many dead ends that you can get stuck in assuming you have learned your way around the map. You will have to navigate using nothing but the minimap in the bottom corner. The larger map may be present in some remakes, but the original PS2, Xbox and PC version of the game and any emulated copies released on other systems do not have a map tab in the pause menu. There is no GTA 3 map button in the standard version of the game. If you have the paper map, then this is the best that you can have. The large pause menu map was first introduced in Vice City. Grand Theft Auto 3, does not have a large map feature that other GTA games have.
